The senior employee reports to the Microbiology Manager and performs the following activities:
Essential duties and responsibilities:
- Prepares samples for testing.
- Prepares microbiological media and solutions needed for testing.
- Carries out qualitative and quantitative microbiological analyses of food, swab and water.
- Performs equipment calibration and quality checks as per assigned schedule.
- Engages in research to develop new test methods.
- Performs test methods validation as per assigned schedule.
- Makes sure inventory stocks meet the work requirements.
- Maintains a safe microbiological laboratory environment.
- Attends industry meetings as required.
- Performs other duties as and when required by the Microbiology Manager.
Requirements:
- Fluent Polish, good English.
- University degree in science, preferably food science.
- At least 3 years of experience in a similar role in an accredited laboratory.
- Understands test methods and procedures including validation method and estimating
uncertainty. - Problem solving and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of local accreditation processes.
- Ability to interpret results of determinations and deliver compliance statements.
- Experience in developing new analytical methods.
- Knowledge regarding sample preparation, including sampling
- Knowledge regarding molecular methods.
- Hands-on experience on PCR methods.
- Hands-on experience on ELISA methods.
- Experience in analytical instruments troubleshooting is preferred.
- Ability to train other laboratory staff and delegate tasks.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and LIMS.
